WELCOME TO SHARPHAM PARK, May 2013

Thank Goodness for the Sun!!!
Everything has finally started to grow- from the baby lambs, cattle, ducks and even carp to our glorious fields of spelt. It's looking lush, green and healthy and we're hoping for a bumper crop this year. What a beautiful start to May and as the winter layers are peeled off we start thinking of getting into shape for shorts and swimsuits weather.

Spelt is the perfect ingredient for any healthy regime and our delicious Bran Flakes are the perfect staple of a good spring diet. High in Fibre, low in fat, salt and sugar and sooooo tasty. So why not celebrate the sun with our featured product this month 'Spelt Bran Flakes with Berries'.
Great British Spelt Recipes Update:
We had quite a whirlwind and exciting month in April with the launch of the campaign. There was plenty of national news coverage including, Channel Five, The Mail on Sunday, The Telegraph and the Independant. We spent 2 fruitful weeks at Fortnum and Mason's raising awareness and cash for Bowel Cancer UK with the help of some of our lovely chefs, incl: Gizzi Erskine, Mark Hix, Edd Kimber and Sophie Michell.
The Sharpham Pantry @ Kilver Court
The new restaurant created by Roger Saul at his designer outlet village, Kilver Court in Shepton Mallet. It is the home of the Great British Spelt menu from Alex Gooch's spelt flat breads being featured on the menu along with weekly specials from the collection.
The Pantry is also hosting some exciting celebrity demos. Brendan Lynch, the popular Great British Bake Off finalist will be demonstrating the skills that got him into the final on Saturday, 4th May. Brendan will be around to answer questions after the demonstration, so stay for lunch and visit the gardens and shops.

SHARPHAM PARK
Sharpham Park is a 300 acre organic estate set deep in the Somerset countryside. The Estate is owned by Roger Saul, the founder of British designer label Mulberry, where we take pride in our sustainable and organic farming techniques . It is here that we grow and mill
spelt, an ancient cousin of wheat with many health, taste and nutritional benefits, and with a delicious nutty taste. From this West Country spelt we have created a selection of spelt products: the best organic breakfast cereals, spelt flour, and pearled spelt – which is a fantastic rice alternative and makes a great ‘speltotto'. Feel free to browse the website and discover the wonderful properties of spelt, which is as flexible to use as wheat with greater health benefits and is a viable crop for the future. You can find and taste all our delicious spelt products under one roof by visiting our shop and café at Kilver Court, just up the road from the farm, in Shepton Mallet in Somerset, or by ordering online.
