Roger Saul the founder of the British design label, Mulberry, and his wife Monty have lived at Sharpham Park for over thirty years and, during that time have sympathetically restored and transformed it to its former glory. They have created the Sharpham Park food brand, out of their passion for sustainably farmed, healthy and natural food.
Their vision is to run Sharpham Park as a profitable mixed economy farm, tailored to today's modern world. The main arable crop is spelt, an ancient cousin of wheat and a perfect alternative to wheat with great nutritional qualities due to its unique gluten structure. Rare breeds reared on the estate include White Park cattle, one of the older breeds first documented over 1,000 years ago, and Hebridean and Manx Loghtan sheep - all prized for the superb quality of their meat. Red deer, also found at Sharpham Park, were part of the heritage of the estate dating back to to the year AD950. All produce from the estate is available from the Sharpham Park Farm Shop at Kilver Court, Shepton Mallet in Somerset or by mail order.
Countryside stewardship is supporting the restoration of the Park and the SW Regional Decelopment Agency have invested in the building of the dedicated Organic Spelt Mill.
